The Opportunity Card is a residency permit for workers from third countries seeking employment in Germany. It facilitates the recognition of foreign professional qualifications in the country and can be extended for an additional two years. Initially issued for up to one year, the permit can be extended for an additional two years.
There are two options for eligibility. The first option involves having a German or foreign qualification that is fully recognized in Germany. The second option requires a bachelor's degree or diploma, proficiency in the German language at level A1 or English language at level B2, and achieving at least 6 points in the scoring system based on language skills, age, experience, and previous stays in Germany.
In both cases, the worker must be financially independent for at least one year, which can be demonstrated by having a block account with 1027 euros per month, a sponsor, or a part-time job.
